Washington . . .well, it was definitely better the second time around with Mel. The monuments, the white house, the bars and restaurants – all so good.
We even managed to get out to Arlington Cemetary and the Pentagon – which after meeting Rob in NYC and telling us his recounts of 9/11, gave me an all new perspective of just how hard Washington was hit.
Loved spending a lazy Labor Day holiday afternoon exploring Georgetown, such a cool little place – we discovered a very awesome American BBQ style restaurant to wile away a few hours before heading up to the POV bar overlooking the White House where we watched the secret service men on the roof and also saw someone walking the ‘First Dogs’ – yep, it might have been Obama walking the dogs, but who cares, we saw the friggen dogs of the president :-).
We did a night tour of the monuments which, we believe, is a much better perspective of what the monuments are about.
Now, we are on the road and at the Dirty Dancing Lodge, which I will write about tomorrow – AWESOME HOLIDAY.
shot of fire hydrant is awesome – props to the protographer
