Road Tripping Texas Hill Country Day 1

Our road trip began finding our way out of Austin via Shake Shack – the BEST burgers in the world!

With our sat nav guiding us, we were on our way to Dripping Springs, first stop on the road trip. Time for a coffee at Le Muse Cafe. Great little place for a pit stop.

Next stop was a winery to try some local wines, but we got side tracked by a strange, tall building offering wine tastings from all over the world and Texas Hill Country views. It was a building situated on top of a hill and was like two square pillars that had a wine tasting room, about 4 suites, a swimming pool and a rooftop where you could see for miles. Pretty cool place and a little random, just sitting there on the hill.

Stop number 3 was the teeny tiny town of Luckenbach, that as at 2006 had a population of 3. It’s a renowned music venue and the post office is a store that leads you through to the bar and the beer garden and stage and that is it – that’s the town. Cool little place. Apparently Willie Neilson used to throw great 4th of July picnics out there. Which would be cool to see.

Final stop on Day 1 of roadtrip was Fredericksburg, a very quaint German town. We stayed in a beautiful B & B on Main Street and enjoyed dinner at the local brewery. Beautiful town.
