WOW – New York

I arrived in New York at 5:15pm yesterday, then waited in a taxi line at Penn Station for 20 mins. I had the most amazing butterflies. I was both excited and nervous. I also couldn’t stop smiling, I was finally in NEW. YORK. CITY!!!

In the mere 15 hours I have been here, I have hailed a cab, been to a broadway show (Cabaret, most excellent, I laughed, I cried, I cheered – Alan Cummings, Scottish actor, outstanding and Michelle Williams – incredible, who knew Jen from Dawsons Creek could sing), walked down Broadway to the bright lights of Times Square and drank martinis in the R Bar up looking out onto Times Square. This is New York my way.

The broadway show was based in Berlin just before the Nazi stuff, the theatre – the original Studio 54 (famous nightclub in the 70s & 80s) is a 1920s speak easy lounge, with little cocktail tables. I sat on a table with a hilarious gay couple and one of their mum’s. They told me the story, gushed over my ‘beautiful’ sparkly high heels and pointed out the guys we thought were hot in the show. Great table to be sitting at.

No tours, just me getting wonderfully excitingly lost and meeting lovely interesting strangers in the city that never sleeps, the city I should have lived in at least for a year of my life.

It’s raining today but that won’t be dampening my spirits, I’m here for good time, not a long time. And now it’s time to get out there amongst it.

I’m in NEW. YORK. CITY!!!

  2. Oh Mum and Dad, I’m loving it. Why didn’t I come and live here in my 20s rather than being tied down. I had the same feeling today that I remembered having when I first arrived in Tokyo – a place that was so foreign, yet, I always felt a part of. I’ve still got so much to do in the next two days. Love you guys too. I’ve got so many stories to tell (and some family stories from the Wilsons) – thank god I’m coming home for two weeks at Christmas. Miss you all, love to Bon-Bon xxx
