Road tripping up the North Carolina coast

Enjoyed a great drive up the coast to Beaufort, North Carolina. It’s another beautiful seaside town and I am staying in a gorgeous BnB with two of the most gracious people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

The drive direct from Wilmington to Beaufort is 2 hours and 6 mins (says google maps), well, I did it in 5 and a half hours – I was in no hurry and wanted to see as much as I possibly could on the way up north.

First stop was the mailbox at Wrightsville Beach – a mailbox that a couple put on the beach in 2003 filled with notebooks and pens for every visitor to write their thoughts, send a love letter (that they may never send), write down their thoughts about a lost love or past love or future love, send a letter to the universe, ask for world peace and just write down thoughts and hopes for happiness.

I thought it was such a great idea so I headed off to find it at the start of my road trip.

I just so happened to arrive at 11:11 so I made a double wish and left my note. Nope, I will never disclose the contents of that note. It was a moment just for me. I didn’t read the other inserts, as I didn’t think it was right. And my note was pretty personal so I wouldn’t want anyone reading that.

Then it was just me, my road trip snacks, a Big Gulp of Dr Pepper, the beast of a car I’m driving and my awesome playlist, cruising up the coast taking little detours when a road looked it might be an exciting place to turn down.

For somebody that doesn’t actually enjoy driving at home, I am sooooo in my happy place over here driving on the other side of the road.

Unfortunately the pics below aren’t in order.
