Road tripping from Las Vegas to Zion National Park was a lot of fun. A 2.5 hour trip ended up taking me 4 hours, I’d see something that looked or sounded cool so I would veer off. My sat nav was losing patience with me, that’s for sure.
I drove through a state park called the Valley of Fire in Nevada and it was incredible. Red sandstone foundations make up this fabulous place. Around every corner I oooohed and aaaahed at the scenery. Just amazing, hope the pics below do it justice.
Next I was on my way to my destination for the next few nights, Under Canvas Zion. A glamping park just outside the Zion National Park in southern Utah.
And what a place to stay it was. I booked the Stargazer tent which had Perspex glass over the head of the bed so you could lay there and watch the stars. Magical!!!
I saw the Milky Way. I heard coyotes on the first night that sounded just like a pack of puppies.
I did the hardest hike ever.
Just purchasing hiking boots does not make one a hiker – it was a tough climb but I enjoyed (mostly) every minute of it. The elevation was the hardest.
I didn’t go the last 500 feet as that is straight up with only one chain, shared by people going up and down, for you to you hold on to. Eeeek, no thank you.
I was happy with my view and photos without feeling the need to put my life in danger!
It was such a wonderful few days where I could to unplug a little and relax. Can’t wait to go back to explore more of the park.
