After dumping our bags in our hotel room (which we couldn’t find straight away, only to then find it was right next to where we had been standing trying to work out where it was), we went in search of dinner. We ended up finding a cool little place where we had to order our food through a vending machine – god help us, who knew what we were going to get!!
Luckily we picked well – no weird food for Luke tonight!
Yesterday we were on a mission to find the best breakfast in Tokyo at St Marc’s Cafe (I couldn’t remember the name before we got there, just had a vague idea of where it could be). So, armed with our “trusty” google maps, we walked and walked and walked! Then like a mirage in a desert, we stumbled upon it – woohoo, SUCCESS!!
Next adventure was getting to Ueno Station to catch the Shinkansen (bullet train) out to Nagano to catch the final train to Myoko-Kogen. The bullet train was PACKED and the only tickets we could get were unreserved seating, no problem we thought as there were 5 train cars that all had unreserved seating!! Well, for the first hour and twenty minutes we stood and stood and stood. Thankfully the trip to Nagano was only one hour and fifty minutes.
The last leg out to Myoko Kogen was only half an hour and through the most gorgeous scenery all covered in snow! Woohoo, how much snow were we in for???
We arrived at Akakura to a tonne of snow and then it starting snowing even more in the afternoon and didn’t stop. It was so pretty walking around the village while the snow was falling.
This is going to be awesome!!!
