Washington

So two days in Washington was great. I saw most of the things I had on my to do list. Everything is just SO big! The Lincoln Memorial and reflectiong pool was definitely my favourite. It helped that the weather on both of the days was amazing. There was also a Marine Corps marathon on Sunday which kept the crowds away from the National Mall and all the monuments.

Even the museums were easy to zip in and out of and still feel like I saw what I wanted. The only thing I really wanted to see that I missed out on was the Halocaust Memorial but I was already feeling pretty emotional that day, with everything else I had seen, so I decided to skip it.

The hotel rooftop bar, I thoroughly enjoyed! So, when you travel by yourself, you find you find yourself having conversations usually referred to with friends and family. So, this guy Chris, he was ex military (I didn’t ask where or what and he didn’t say), but my gosh, did he want to tell me about conspiracy theories!! Even up to the latest White House Fence Jumper of a couple of days before I got there.

And then, I talked to another military guy the next afternoon and he was straight up, no nonense, definitely no conspiracy theories! Just how awesome it was to be in Washington and proud to defend his country.

Chatting to strangers and locals, have definitely made this trip AMAZING. It’s been so much fun. Oh and avoiding eye contact when you just can’t be fooked exchanging pleasantries, doesn’t help! If you are alone and someone wants to talk to you, then they are talking. Even working doesn’t deter them. But its all good.
